History

Layerlab AB was founded in 2002 with the aim to develop and commercialise a new technology for the immobilization of liposomes that can hold membrane proteins of interest to be studied in label-free biosensor systems. The base technology was developed by a research group at the Department of Applied Physics at Chalmers University of Technology.

In 2009 Layerlab acquired all shares in Midorion AB, focused on developing electrical biosensors and surface chemistries based on nano and micro technologies. Midorion was originally a spin-off from Chalmers University of Technology and Göteborg University.

Layerlab's mission is to significantly increase the usefulness of current biosensor instruments by providing means to perform analysis of membrane associated processes and special surface applications and expand the field of biosensing by introducing impedance based instruments for beyond mass measurements.
