memLAYER
The memLAYER product family includes both memLAYER Chemistry kit and memLAYER Application methods. The products provide a unique approach of gently immobilizing biological membranes to bioanalytical sensor surfaces and thus enabling the study of processes that occur over biological membranes as well as membrane protein functionality. The memLAYER Chemistry kit will be complemented with specific methodologies for different applications.
The memLAYER products is initially designed for use on SPR-instruments such as ProteOn by Bio-Rad, Biacore by GE Life Science and on waveguide instruments such as the ANALight from Farfield group, but can also be used together with other bioanalytical sensor instruments. Please indicate intended instrument upon memLAYER product request.
memLAYER Chemistry kit
memLAYER Chemistry kit is used for the immobilization of liposomes and the consequential build-up of several layers.
memLAYER Chemistry kit includes:
- Chemistry for functionalization of the biosensor surface
- Tags for linking the liposomes to the biosensor surface
- Tags to connect multiple layers of liposomes
- Instructions For Use for the biosensor instrument to be used
As an option there is also a possibility to get a set of SPR Standard sensors compatible with Biacore instruments.
memLAYER Application methods
memLAYER Membrane Transport Method (MTM)
Layerlab now offers a proprietary Membrane Transport Method, based on monitoring the transport-dependent change in refractive index inside liposome attached to a SPR sensor surface. This method, in combination with the memLAYER Chemistry kit, enables a direct approach for screening of passive diffusion of e.g. various drug candidates and for screening of membrane-protein mediated transport across lipid bilayer membranes.
