z-LAB Instrument and Sensors
Micro impedance instrument for real-time bio-interface analysis
The first Layerlab micro impedance based instruments, z-LAB, provides new insights into the multifaceted relationships of molecular interactions and molecular adsorption. It is based on the proprietary Resonance Enhanced Surface Impedance (RESI) technology. Applications include proteins, lipids and polymers interacting with molecules, surfaces and changes in the surrounding environment.
The RESI technology results in exceptionally sensitive and fast means of developing data by monitoring impedance changes at the electrode–solution interface. This makes it possible to follow complex molecular interactions that cannot be detected using optical or acoustic techniques.
The measurements are label-free and do not require special reagents or complex sample preparation. In addition, the impedance biosensor has low target consumption, and a full sequence of functionalization steps can be real-time monitored in a single measurement.
The RESI technology can provide key information to fundamental research in understanding molecular interactions and processes taking place on surfaces. This includes investigation of new biomaterials and development of surface chemistries.
z-LAB One opens up a new dimension in molecular analysis generating unique data with large impact for contemporary and future biomedical research and development.
